The Vakka storage box is made out of compressed plywood. The designers, Klaus and Elina Aalto, were inspired by the plywood suitcases particularly popular in Baltic countries. They wanted to create an aesthetically pleasing container that does not look too much like a container and lends itself for a variety of uses. Vakka is stackable, and it can function for instance as a night table. Vakka boxes are made in Lahti, Finland.
